Curiosities of Life
Ada Da Silva’s signature bronze sculpture is a poetic
tribute to freedom, movement, and the ever-shifting journey of life.
THE SAILS represent the journey of life itself: ever-shifting, shaped by forces both seen and unseen, and steered by the mind—the one instrument we can guide amidst the unknown.
The three elongated, abstract figures evoke the
spirit of curiosity—angelic and ethereal, they symbolize our innate desire to explore, feel, and make meaning of the path ahead.
They are the seekers, the questioners, the quiet voices within us that ask, “What’s next?”
Together, sails and figures move in harmony—expressing the
timeless dance between direction and discovery. Life may be uncertain, but it is full of beauty, curiosity, and grace when we choose to embrace the journey.

The Journey: Curiosities of Life
A Bronze Sculpture by Ada Da Silva
Ada Da Silva’s signature bronze sculpture is a poetic
tribute to freedom, movement, and the ever-shifting journey of life.
In bronze—an enduring, classic medium—the work becomes a
timeless symbol of resilience, surrender, curiosity, and joy. It is an ode to the full circle of life: a dance between effort and ease, control and release, always anchored in beauty, meaning, and the courage to embrace the unknown.
INSPIRATION:
Drawing inspiration from the sails of a sailing boat, she uses this powerful metaphor to symbolize how life flows—requiring only the wind (external forces), your inner drive (creativity, desire, ambition, and determination), and the sails (your mind, the one thing you can control).
The sails in her sculpture carry deep symbolic
meaning:
• Upward sails
represent moments when life flows effortlessly—joyful, aligned, and full of
blissful momentum.
• Inverted sails
reflect life’s unpredictable currents—the forces we cannot control, the closed
doors and unforeseen shifts that challenge us.
The sails represent the journey of life itself:
ever-shifting, shaped by forces both seen and unseen, and steered by the
mind—the one instrument we can guide amidst the unknown. Through this dynamic
interplay, the sculpture explores the contrast between what we can steer and
what we must surrender to. It captures the duality of control versus chaos,
intention versus happenstance—while always returning to a central truth: life
is a continuous cycle of movement, change, and renewal.
Despite its conceptual depth, the piece maintains Ada's
signature aesthetic of upright elegance and grace. Three elongated,
angel-like abstract figures anchor the sculpture, symbolizing the
curiosity that lives within us all—our innate desire to explore, question,
and experience life’s mysteries. Ethereal and poetic, they are the seekers,
the silent navigators, the inner voices that gently ask, “What’s next?”
The forward sails embody the freedom of flowing in
the right direction, guided by purpose and vision. The inverted sails
suggest life’s open and closed doors—the rhythms we cannot command but must
navigate with grace. Together, sails and figures move in harmony,
expressing the timeless dance between direction and discovery.
